How We Play
Event Details
Unless otherwise stated, all of the events will take place at Escape Bar, Stratford.
All players wanting to attend one of the events must fill out the sign-up sheet - (to help with logistics and organising tables). You may not be able to join a table if you turn up without signing up.
The dice will start rolling at 3pm, but players can arrive anytime from 2pm to set up, make characters or chat to others.
DMs for each table will have the final say on whether a late arrival can join (this is to limit the disruption to a party). If you know you will be late, please message @geotom on Discord so we can make arrangements for you.
Character Creation
Players can create their own characters using any of the official D&D 5E published material (2014 only, we are not using the 2024 versions yet). If you have any deviations from this or questions, please message your table DM (when known).
We have a space on D&D Beyond where you can create your characters (link pinned on Discord), if you use
D&D Beyond, please make sure your character sheet is public so that the DMs can see it. Please also bring a copy of your character sheet with you to the session (we can only provide blank sheets). Make sure to select 'legacy rules' for the 2014 ruleset. If you have never played D&D before, we can have some pre-generated characters that you can download from the site or you can attend a character creation workshop organised ad-hoc with a DM in the # lg-one-shot channel on discord.
Playing Rules
Throughout all of the games, please be courteous to each other and your DM. The game becomes less fun if players are constantly shouting over each other and displaying MCE (main character energy). We would have to ask people to leave if they can not be kind and respectful to others.
Although you are free to play whichever style you wish, please be mindful that your character should try to fit into the setting they are living in.
Player tables will be made available a week before the event starts - each table will have a thread on Discord where they can communicate directly with their DM.
We use the Consent in Gaming guidelines, which you can read here.
